The NICP eGov Awards is a recognition program that highlights local government units (LGUs) using information and communications technology to improve public services, government processes, and the business environment.
Launched in 2012 through a partnership involving the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), DILG, and industry, the program created a platform for showcasing innovative ICT-enabled practices in local governance.
The awards initially recognized initiatives in areas such as Government-to-Citizen (G2C) and Government-to-Business (G2B) services. Over time, the program evolved to include broader areas of digital governance, including interoperability, data-driven governance, digital finance, and internal government operations.
The program later became associated with the Digital Governance Awards, reflecting the expanding role of technology in government.
Beyond recognizing outstanding LGUs, the awards provide an opportunity to share best practices, encourage innovation, and inspire other local governments to adopt effective digital solutions.
Through initiatives such as the eGov Awards, NICP helps strengthen the connection between ICT councils, local governments, industry, academe, and other stakeholders, supporting the broader development of digital governance in the Philippines.
